wow. I had an amazing surprise yesterday in my kids after school class. A dad who comes with his daughter, took special note of last weeks drawing lesson and followed the line to draw a shape first. We did Endre Penovac cats with Chinese ink and he was a natural!!! He had a real gift for them. So proud of you, Doug. It was a real challenge but you aced it.....
What a challenge this exercise is! I have done it with nearly hundreds of people and it all starts off the same - and ends up with very satisfied weavers. From 5 to 85, students are so happy when they see the basket finally coming together and then, when their basket is finished. A very fulfilling task and so beautiful to witness.....
Finally! Poor Roberta, my darling friend received a portrait I had promised her years ago. Her beloved girl Pink had passed away, so I thought I could do her a painting to say a big thank you for giving us our beautiful cat Felix. What a terrific lady Roberta is - I was so happy to share conversation and cuppas with her for hours today, to meet her new little girl, Georgia, to listen to fascinating stories and look at her truly amazing collection of art....can't believe we didn't do it years ago, Roberta! I am going back to paint/sketch some horses (beautiful creatures) at her place sometime. Love, love, loved it today. What a balm for the soul. Animals, art and great company......
